In my SciFi story Reset 2046, one of the main characters is Tony Townes. He writes on 4/26/2037: "Centennial of the Guernica massacre, an event which made Picasso a political artist."
Picasso started the painting on 5/11/1937, done with matte house paint. It was also inspired by Dora Maar's black and white photograms.
The 2046 album was the "score" for the story:

Thoughts on Standard Amarillo: Part of the mythology of the United States is its highway system built postwar and one of the more popular roadways as we know is Route 66, one of the main thoroughfares to the west coast. There's this idea of heading west that I've come across in various books as a metaphor for moving towards the future. It's interesting that it is more of a universal and not unique to the United States. One of the images that I picked for the album was taken on Route 66 while the artist was heading west from Oklahoma to California. The photo is in effect a milestone from that point in his life where he steps out of the car takes a picture of this and then years later inspires paintings just as iconic. What I'm trying to depict in this is that there's a radio playing in the car. I want to make it both diegetic and non-diegetic in the world of the photograph. Source entry:

Since Dome City was like a film score to begin with, I decided to make a "Director's Cut". The Liner Notes are here.
Here is an experiment using just the diary entries from a particular day--in this case, today, March 16. First I go through the entries sequentially and extract words and phrases that are musical and begin to form verses and choruses. The "from time to time" line became a repeating phrase, perhaps sung as a background voice, or sung antiphonally. Then I choose other lines based on the established groove. You can play around with the order, and eventually, it begins to gather meaning. Once you have the song structure, you can swap out lines with other words; you don't ultimately have to use the original text at all. You can also use ChatGPT to find other words and phrases to complete the lyric. In essence what you're doing is using your own algorithm for writing lyrics and songs, which to me is more interesting and satisfying.
